NEW YEAR EVE- USA LOVE LIST

Happy New Years Eve, I am so sorry for my long absents, I was on a holiday last week due to Christmas, spending time with Family and Friends, As I hope most of you were too. This blog post was meant for yesterday, it being Tuesday and all, but I was deadly ill yesterday, seems I caught the stomach bug, It was horrible but thankfully my wonderful superhero of a hubby and his side kick Daisy, made sure I stayed hydrated and well basically alive. Thankfully after spending most of the past two days passed out in bed here is my blog post a day late...

It being New years eve and everyone saying what there new years resolution would be I really wanted to take time and think through my Purchases and where Kyle and I spend our money this coming 2015. I would really like to keep our money in the USA this year, and with that being said, I have started a list of USA made products.

My new years resolution is to try and buy products only made in the USA.

I am really excited about this resolution.  I think that it may in some ways be a big challenge, and I know that some people out there think that I am nuts, and that it is impossible to buy products that I use everyday only made in  america, But I am up for the challenge. My Goal is that Every Tuesday I will be featuring a company  that is solely made in the USA. So challenge excepted!  I hope you enjoy tuning in every Tuesday for my made in America update.

Until Next Time My Friends,

Friday

Happy Friday.

I spent the first half of this week at home, running grandma Mollie around and visiting with friends while husband was on a business trip. Now that we are both home in our little condo, I am hoping that Christmas will be in full swing. If only Ohio would get some snow!!

In the world this week things have been kinda crazy, looking at Cuba, Russia, the school attack in Pakistani. Thankful I have a Jesus to turn in times of uncertainty and times when I do not understand completely everything that is going on.

Well as I am trying to stay calm about our current world problems I thought I would share some of the best houses decorated for Christmas.

I hope you enjoyed these lights as much as Daisy and I did.

Columbus Zoo Lights

Husband took me on a date night last Saturday, He said it was time for us to have some alone time with out Daisy. It was awesome. He took me to Columbus Zoo which is currently all lite up with thousands of lights. It was truly a winter wonderland, but It was missing a few keys piece, like snow, and most important Jesus. The main reason we have Christmas.

It makes me kind of sad that people will go most if not all of there life without hope, Thinking that Christmas is just about gift and Santa.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

It was such a good time. If you are in the Columbus area make time to go. It is a great family event, or if you are like us its make a great date night.

Merry Christmas

P.S Did you know that thanks to our low gas prices Americans have a 2% raise. 2% raise just by lower gas prices. Is the major news covering that?

Well if they are not, here is it, Let it be my little Friday Fact.

Thursday Briefing

Can I just start with how thankful I am for a job that has me constantly meeting and helping new people. Today was a extra special day. Every so often God brings a patient into the office that ends up leaving me bright eyed and remembering what my goal in life is about- Saving the world one patient at a time!

On another thought, have you seen who was awarded the Nobel Peace Price. It is a remarkable story of a girl who was shot because she wanted to go to school like her brothers, but was told to stop because girls are not taught in society.  She is the first Pakistani, and the youngest to receive this honor.

Below is a video of her speech after she received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Malala Yousafzai Speech

and lastly........ Gas Prices! What is going on? I know we are drilling, but the conspiracy theorist inside me feels like there is something going on other than fracking and drilling.. What country is going to collapse? What is the real reason of this current gas situation? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that we are drilling, and producing our own oil, but I am still a little skeptical. Can you blame me?!

Well stay tuned, I'll be back shortly.

Merry Christmas

Obamacare rant...

Eat this up Mr Gruber, just eat it up. For those who will listen to this and say "oh, this is just one patient"... well let me tell you there are lives everyday whos care and treatments are put in the back burner because of these glitches in the system. So get your damn facts right! Spend just one day in the shoes pf a Doctor,Nurse, or Medical Assistant and you too will feel the pain and heartache that we feel when a patient does not get what they need.

Congresswoman Tells Gruber, 'Get Over Your Damn G…: http://youtu.be/pgoHbBLEpE4

I know its been a while for those who have been faithful followers of my blog. Rants used to be a more frequent topic.. and maybe I'll start again.. because some things are just not ment to stay inside.

Study the facts my friends. Untill next time

Christmas Decoration & Monday Blessings

Just a little post to show you what my little house looks like with all of my homemade decorations , and to share with you how amazing my Great Jesus is.

Starting a new Job this month brings much change. New things, different people, a list of patient, and different rules. I am filled with excitement and thanks knowing that I am back in the medical field. Helping people every day feel better. Yet at the same time I can end up nervous and anxious especially Sunday nights before the unknown Monday. Sundays are the worst. Today however God once again reminded me that He is all knowing and in control. Today brought many new things. Smiles, laughs, and a warm heart. Meeting patient, caring for them, and making them comfortable. Everything that makes my little heart happy. I am so thankful for a God that knows my heart better than myself. God never fails. He understand my weakness, and my strengths and what makes my heart happy and full. Sunday nights might always be hard, But remembering that I have a God, who is  The Great Physician gives me a hope that I may never be able to completely understand. Today was once again a good Monday.

On another note, Here are some pictures of the Decorations.I am quite please with the turn out and how little money husband and I was able to save not buying ornaments.

Oh Christmas Tree

Oh Christmas Tree.

How beautiful are your branches, and homemade ornaments.

Homemade garland for the fireplace.

My favorite piece on my Mantel, is that Candle's that my grandma Mollie handed down to me.

Well Folks, I pray that you let God into your Monday and have him bless your heart like he did to mine today.

Lots of Christmas Joy,

Home for Thanksgiving & officially in Christmas Count Down

Greetings,
I hope that you are all feeling thankful, blessed and full on the wonderful Monday. Husband and I traveled home this past weekend to part take in family gatherings and fun actives, including one of my most looked forward to activity that comes this time of year. Wreath making.

A few years ago, My mother- who is may I save very crafty, had that idea to start taking the trimmings that we would collect while we got out REAL TREE and start making our own Christmas wreathes. This idea took off and has become a yearly tradition. Friday after thanksgiving we go out and search for the perfect tree, and with that the gentleman who owns the tree farm lets us have free range over all the trimmings from our tree and others trees that he has cut down.

Will all the extra trimmings. Saturday morning we host out Christmas Wreath making party. Inviting close family and Friends, and it is certainly a ball!

Enjoy.

These are the decoration that every one brings to add to the wreath making collection.

D.I.Y Christmas stockings

Happy Thanksgiving Week,

Our house is in full holiday swing, with D.I.Y stockings, cut out cookies and 75% of Husband and I Christmas shopping is done! YAY!

These D.I.Y stockings where an idea that my sister-in-law and I found on pinterest. We planned a day, went to some local thrift shops and began our stocking.

The stockings are very simple. NO SEWING MACHINE NEEDED! Did you get that? No Sewing Machine Needed. You are welcome, for all those who want to be crafty but feel they have to have a sewing machine to do so. I am so sorry that you were lead to believe that in the first place. My heart goes out to you.

Any who,..

If you are ready to begin, just follow the pictures below.

These were my sweater. Thrift store find of coarse. I did not spend more than 4 dollars on a sweaters.

Because this sweater had buttons I wanted to used them, So Instead of cutting only one side, and stiching up one side I cut right out of  the middle of the sweater.

A few little note: remember to turn inside out.
If you prefer that your stockings when hung are hung a certain way like you like the boot to go to the left or to the right, make sure that you have that correct. With this sweater because of the button I had to be careful, but with other sweaters that have same pattern on back and front it does not matter. :)

This little needle is found near the yarn isle at the store, this blue one was purchased at Walmart for 1.97, came in a pack  of four.

I simply just used thinner yarn, the same yarn I used in a early post with the snowflakes, You can use what ever yarn you have or want.

Here is a picture of two stockings all done.

This is an example of a sweater that I used the seam on the side of the sweater so you only have to stitch one side and the boot.

Sweet daisy girl was tired, she also got to tag along to the thrift stores.

Ta do, the finish projects.

Another one of daisy snoozing, because she is my faithful side kick. She gives me moral support while I work on projects when husband is at work.

Here you have it folks. Stockings all tied up on the banister, we do have a fire place, but i am not thrilled about nailing holes into it, so until we find a reasonable price and cute stocking hanger they will stay on the banister.

I hope you enjoyed the stockings. If you have any Christmas D.I.Y. projects you would like to share, please do. Post below. Daisy and I would love the comments and messages.

Let me just share some things before Presidents Obama speech tonight....

Tonight President Barack Obama will be taking executive action on immigration reform, but if you were planning on tuning in to see it don't turn your channel to CBS, NBC, ABC.

It came out today that the white house did not  ask the three big broadcasting networks to interrupt there Thursday night shows for his big immigration speech.

However if you have Univision- the Spanish speaking network-you will be able to tune in and watch President Obama take action on immigration reform. To make your night even better just continue to watch because right after President Obama takes action with immigration reform the Latin Grammy's are being hosted, with Latin Grammy's being the highest rated program of the year on Univision.

Why don't we just go ahead and celebrate  Mexico's revolution anniversary because it is November 20th.

It seems only appropriate right that the white house would choose to not air President Obama's immigration reform speech on the big English speaking channels....... because WE as Americans will be sure to tune in to Univision! NOT!

please. Let us just take a minute and watch a clip from a speech that President Obama gave in 2008. As President Obama  continues to take executive action and bypass congress he is proving that our constitution is really not that important to him.

.

Excuse  my sarcasm.

Just a little home made Christmas in November

Good day.

I am excited to share with you the projects that Daisy and I have been working on today! It has simply been a perfect day! Let me mention that I am so thankful that I have a awesome husband that supports daisy and I- making it a possibility for me to stay home part time and do fun things around the house. We love you husband! ;)

Yesterday weather report read that we would wake up Monday morning  in a magical snow globe. Secretly praying to myself that it would be true  and planning my Monday adventures as I laid in bed last night, excited that Thanksgiving and Christmas was just around the corner.  I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed excited to peek out the window blinds hoping that the weather man was correct and that God had heard my silent prayers. Squealing as I looked and saw the snow covered roof tops, and crystal covered trees on our street.

Excited to take Daisy out in the snow for the first time this winter, I eagerly got up, You see Husband being sweet normally lets me lay in bed and he takes her out, but I was not going to miss out on this opportunity. Daisy walking into the snow snorting, and running with her nose in the snow. Happy to be playing, but when it was time to use the restroom she was a bit confused.

With breakfast made and husband sent out in the snow covered roads to work, Daisy and I got busy with our adventures that we had planned. Thanks to YouTube and recipes easily found  online we set out to make this years Christmas tree ornaments from scratch.  Below  I have pictures to document our wonderful day.

The Snow this morning, God surely does make beautiful things!

Crochet snowflakes,  That I have created to hang on our first Christmas tree as a married couple. YAY!  Thanks to many awesome YouTube videos our tree will be so pretty.
Here is a link to crochet snowflake that I used and found very easy!

Here is a picture of my back yard, It is not wonderful!!

Cut out Ornaments. These were super easy, fun and smell really yummy, and so does my little house!

I found a blog that had this recipe and I thought I could easily do those, and save a ton of money on Christmas ornaments!!

Here are the ingredients:
Cinnamon
Applesauce

that is it folks, Easy Peesy

Applesauce and Cinnamon mixed together

Lets not forget about my side kick Daisy :)
Responsible for licking all the utensils before I placed them in the dish washer, giving me moral support as I made them, and making sure that nothing was dropped on the floor.

You can use whatever cookie cutters you would like! Daisy and I battled the slick and snow covered roads to run to Kohls where I got 25 cookie cutters for 10 dollars! Oh how I love sale items and 20% off on top of the sale.

They baked for an hour at 250 degrees.
I will let them sit overnight, and will thread string through them tomorrow!

Daisy and I are tired and happy.

Hope you enjoyed our little homemade Christmas. If you have any homemade Christmas secrets you would like to share please leave a comment.

My Grace is Sufficient for you.

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

This is the first thing I thought about this morning when I woke up. Well after thinking Man I have to pee, But Honestly! As I got up and made breakfast for my new Hubby (yes, I know I have so much to share)  I continued to think, My Grace is sufficient for you. What a thought.

I took the time to look up the verse today, and I read it, I read it out loud, I read it quietly to myself, But reading it like a question, My grace is sufficient for you? For my power is made perfect in weakness?..... My weakness, He is made perfect in my weakness.

I smile at myself because right now in my little life, I am trying to figure out how to be wife, create a beautiful castle to live in, and find a job. There are days that I feel like I am in a fog, not a bad fog, but a fog. A fog that I am so consumed in with messing up, not finding a job, finding a job, a job that I love, burning every meal I make on our gas stove, making sure the house is organized. Making sure that daisy is happy, and then it hit me That's it! That is what God was trying to whisper in my ear this morning...

"My grace is Sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"

God was saying silly child don't you see or understand "My Grace is sufficient for you and my power is made perfect in your weakness, So come spend time with me, and I will fill your heart, and clear your mind.

What a blessed peaceful reminder, that when we are caught up in the moment, sometimes feeling weak, overwhelmed and tired that God is saying "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness".

So this is my little happy thought for today,

Sunshine Girl in Red.

p.s. Don't let this post make it seem that marriage is overwhelming, although it may be overwhelming and tiring,  it is also rewarding if your relationship is Christ focus. My hubby and I are having a fabulous time being married, but just like any change, or life in general, you are still going to have struggles.

The Most Important Dress a Girl Will Ever Buy

I love thrift stores. I am not the best shopper. I love old things. Not just old but reused. I secretly think that I am playing some kind of role in the particular items life, and that makes me happy. I honestly do believe that my thrift shop item(s) has a story to tell, and I want to be a part of it. I know people who read this is will be like "weirdo" but just take a moment and think of something you have, something special to you. Now imagine it telling a story. Okay.. so maybe some of you won't be able to do that, but let me tell you about my favorite recent thrift item, whose life it has changed, and how I get to be part of its big story.

A girl grows up dreaming about One Big Day: Her Wedding Day. She will spend most of her early life, planning her wedding, and dreaming about prince charming but most importantly she’ll have in her mind what she wants to be wearing that day: Her Wedding Dress. The wedding dress- the most important dress a girl will ever buy!  I don't mean that lightly! Girls will spend two-three times as much as they bring in a month; just to be able to purchase the Dress of their dreams.

It is not just the WOW factor of how one will look in her perfect dress, whether it is modern chic or vintage classic. It is the way she feels in the gown, the way she has always imagined it to feel, as she carefully slip into the layers of finely pressed fabric, and gracefully comes out of the dressing room for all to see. The feeling you find after maybe just one dress, or after trying on hundreds, it shows on your face that the current dress you have just slipped into is Your Wedding dress.

My story starts on a crisp Friday afternoon, while spending time running around town with my grandma. We had made the decision to stop at a thrift store that we had not ventured into. I recently engaged, had already decided I would not be spending any time at those high class fancy bridal stores, I was going to stay true to my heart, and find my dream gown in a thrift store.

I excited to be on the lookout for my wedding treasure, had already spotted a few manikins in the window display dressed in what appeared to be a girl in a wedding dress and a man in a suit. Once in the store I was pleased that I was right, because the dress on the manikin was exactly what I had decided at that moment in time to be MY WEDDING DRESS.

I cannot remember the exact conversation, but what I do know is that I did turn to look at my grandma and said “That is my Dress”.

Gently helping the lady behind the counter pull the beautiful lace vintage perfect gown off the manikin, I could not help but day dream about how beautiful I was going to look on my wedding day. I was already on cloud 9 as I carefully hulled the “big” perfect wedding gown back to the little fitting room. Trying to be very carefully, in a not very well lite, very tiny fitting room, Slipped into what I knew was my wedding gown! Placing each arm into the lace sleeves and carefully trying to reach around to the zipper, my heart sank and my stomach turned, was it to small? Was I too big for the Dress? How was that possible? I opened the door to the fitting room, giving myself and the dress a little more breathing room. I called for my grandma's assistant.

Grandma came over and observed with a not so hopeful look on her face. I assured her that it was my dress and I already had in mind who was going to fix it. Grandma not so sure it could be done refused to let me spend the 25 dollars till I had my mother’s approval. Nervous about leaving the dress for another girl to come and steal, I helped the lady behind the counter place it back on the manikin, promising her I would be back later that day, with my mother to pick up MY dress. As we drove away from what I knew was going to be MY wedding dress, Grandma reminded me that it was not very often a girl choose to shop for their dress at a thrift store and she assured me it would still be there that night.

The hour it took for mom to get home from work, seemed to take forever, as I eagerly waited to take her to see my treasure. Finally with her home, we jumped in the car, without grandma this time, and went to get my dress, which I prayed was still on the manikin as I had left it early that day.

As we pulled our car into the thrift stores parking lot, I was over joyed that my beautiful dress was still on the girl manikin. Back on cloud 9 I walked into the store politely asking the lady to remove the wedding gown from the manikin and hulled it back to the tiny, poorly lite dressing room. I carefully tried to fit into the small waisted gown. The same results as earlier in the day, I opened the fitting room door to show my mother.

This is my dress, I stated. It is not wonderful?

Mother looking over the dress, said “if that’s your dress, then that’s your dress” and “I have confidence that Anna can fix it”

Content I slipped back into the fitting room, and pulled the dress off, satisfied that my search for the perfect gown was complete, and that I knew I would be absolutely beautiful in it.

Fast forwarding a few Months, I am happy to say that I had my second dress fitting this afternoon and my dress is as I could ever imagine perfect in every way! Anna is doing a beautiful job in restoring what I learn was an original Union made dress dated from the 1950s. The dress has no blemishes. It is perfect just like a wedding gown should be. I get a happy heart as I imagine a beautiful girl slipping into the same dress 60 years ago, praying that if she is still alive, she is still happily married, and praying that God blesses her for the gift she has given to me without even knowing it.
