Groomers & Presidents day.

Isaiah and Daisy back from the Groomers.

Well today started off nice, I thought. My Sister and I dropped our beloved canines off at the groomers to be pampered all day. What a treat! & not just for us but also for them. I will admit though It gets lonely with out them being here all day to follow us everywhere around the house or jump up on the love seat to cuddle up with us, but none the less they needed a bath & to be groomed.

Along with the puppies being gone it was also Presidents Day, I am sure most people forgot that today was a national holiday seeing that all the stores are open, including my the salon, where I go tanning!
(yes, I did go tanning today)
Just yesterday I finish a Ronald Reagan book, & eagerly started reading a second Ronald Reagan book. Both  of which I checked out  from the library here in  town. I love history (have i mentioned that before), & I enjoyed reading how much this man did for our nation. I believe Reagan was truly a man that felt called by God to fulfill a task that not many men could handle. Which might just make him one of my favorite presidents! Which leaves me to ask: Who is your favorite president?
to be honest, i have quite a few videos that I love of Reagan, but this is one of my top favorite. Enjoy!

Just another day in February

Today was simply just another day in February. Work at Chipotle was a little busier than normal, due to the sun shining out side. or at least that is why I think we were busier. The sunshine sure was lovely today. I am more than ready for summertime. Not only will Ryan be home for summer break but you can be outside in shorts and a tank soaking up the rays of sun leaving your skin with a golden sun kiss look.. or maybe just a sun burn. Either way, I am ready for summer!
Working at Chipotle is not what I would consider the perfect job, but at least it pays the bills.. well most of them. I can't complain to much though seeing that it keeps me busy as I try and figure out what I am "suppose" to be doing with my life. Yes this simple life of mine, some days seems so complex. Which leaves me to wonder how in the world I let it become that way.
On a brighter note, I will finish off my day watching the Bachelor with my Mother, reading a little of the Ronald Reagan book I recently checked out at the Library, and begin memorizing The Constitution. Ending with a goodnight call from Michigan. Leaving this to be just another day in February.

once again back in ohio.

Waiting for the metro.
Once again I am back in Ohio. Like I had said in my previce post, I was given the opportunity to atttend CPAC which was held in the Marretate hotel, located right of the woodland zoo metro exit. Anyone live around there? I was secretly hoping that I would be able to give you a blog post everyday but due to that conference lasted almost all day and It being my first time in washington DC. I wasn't able to make time, but I will give you a overview of the things that I learned, saw and experience on my little five day trip.
Driving was my boyfriend Ryan, and riding along were me(of coarse) along with two other Hillsdale college students Haden and Mary. I must admit that I felt a little dumb after spending 7 hours in the car listing to Haden and Mary and every once in a while Ryan putting in his two cents on whatever debate or subject they were either arguing or discussing. Needless to say I realized how their schooling was so much different then mine, and that maybe I should try and better educate myself. But than again, maybe not.

Living in rural Ohio, I never get the opportunity to ride the metro or subway, but that ended up being our main form of transportation. The Metro ride from where we were staying to the hotel were CPAC was held was about a half hour. Give or take. and instead of having to pay for a hotel we were able to stay with Ryan's old youth pastor and his wife, which was so much nicer than paying for a hotel.
CPAC was different than I thought it would be. A little over overwhelming and a bit disorganized. I was shocked as to how many Libertarians were there. Lets be clear folks, Libertarianism IS not the new Conservatism. There were defiantly a few questionable groups that were representative there this year. Such as “Go Proud” which is a Homosexual group. A lot of people actually chose to boycote CPAC, because as a Conservative with Christian beliefs we need to up hold the bible and Christian values. Yes, does the republican party need votes but My opinion is that by allowing them to be there, that conservatives and Republicans are just playing the denocrates game, as in that they are using them just to get there votes.
Cake Boss Cake
There were a lot of speakers and events that revolved around Ronald Reagan. Which only made sense, seeing that his birthday was last week. We attended a birthday party, were a previse virgina congress man spoke. Sense this was a birthday party, CPAC brought in a cake from the one and only "Cake Boss", not only did it look amazing it tasted amazing. I must say that this trip really took me back, and made me realize how great of a man that Ronald Reagan was. I hope to meet him once I get up to heaven. It also made me thing a lot about my grandpa Woody Booth. I don't think that he be impressed with our current government citation.
I had the chance to meet Representative Michele Bachmann who represents the 6th congressional district of Minnesota. She is an amazing women and seemed really sweet, Also Ryan was also able to snag her business card. Once Ryan mentions he is from Hillsdale college its like people worship the ground you walk on, okay I might be over exaggerating but its close. I also was very excited once I saw Sara Palin, but then came to realize it was a fake, how could someone be so rude?

Alan West
Oh did I mention how many Ron Paul supporters and Mitt Rommiey supporters there were. Gross.
The over all trip was great they had a “repealing Obama care” panel that was absolutely amazing, but the best speech from the whole conference was the last speech which was given by Congressmen Alan West  from Florida. It left chilled on my body. I could be wrong but this could be the second Ronald Reagan with a speech that may go down in history but than again, I won't be surprised if the liberals ruin his big moment.

Ryan & I in front of
Washington monument.
Although we were at CPAC from 8 am to practically all day, Ryan and I was able to go tour some off our nations memorials and capital buildings. It was nice that Ryan had been there, its faster to get around if you now were you are going. I never imagine that the capital building would be so beautiful with all the statues and pillers. We also took a little trip to china town, which was extremely busy. Along with our little site seeing, Ryan took me to a cozy little restaurant for Valentines days followed with some Godiva Dark Chocolate.yum.
DC is not really like I had thought it would be, but I can't say that I was disappoint or surprised. DC is full of beautiful buildings and historical little houses smashed side by side.

Goodbye Ohio, Hello Washington DC.

I have been given the awesome opportunity to attended CPAC (conservative political action conference) the next three days, which means, Rachel is going to DC!
I have been taught by my mother that being involved with politics and current events and keeping up with our current politicians and government, helps us as Americans to better our future by voting and being involved. This Conservative Conference is going to be filled with Senators, Governors, Ambassadors, Representatives, all from the conservative side of the political world.
I am most defiantly a small town girl, but over the next few days I will take the plunge and explore a city were America is founded and absorbed all the political goodness. (Added bonus: I will get to experience it with my boyfriend, who happens to be a political science major. Whats the odds right?)

day dreams of a little girl.

I seemed to have grown up in some sort of fairy tale day dream gone county. My day dreams were filled with quarter horses and stallions running wild. The west still awaiting to be tamed and touched. Mountains in the horizon were i would watch the sunset sink behind the tail peeks. A small little town with little dirt roads & pick up trucks. I would imagine getting up early and attending to the animals in the barn with my loyal four legged companion following me every step of the way. I would take my horses out to bring in the  cattle, and someday, maybe I would find my so called prince charming, dress in tight jeans, a button up shirt, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots.. i mean a cowgirl wouldn't take her prince any other way. I realized today that although this all these things might have been just day dreams, I can't help but let my mind wonder and think that maybe just maybe i still want the same things i did while going up. ... I want to live in a warm little county town with a few dirt roads, were cowboys are cowboys and the ladies watch after the barefoot children all day long.

Valentine's .. it's more than just another red, Hallmark day.

Valentine's Day. Who is your special someone? Have you gotten that special someone in your life a little something for the big day?  I am currently in the process of making my sweetheart his Valentine's day gift. (& let me tell you I am so very excited) but all this Valentine's Day stuff was making me interested in what Valentine's day is really all about and where it started. So i thought i would do a little research for myself.

The history of Valentine's day is somewhat of a mystery to many. When asked, "What do you think of when you here the word Valentine or Valentine's day?" I was given the answers love, red, kisses, & the hallmark card. Surprisingly I heard nothing about the St Valentine.

The Story of St Valentine and Valentines day is somewhat of  a mystery to most. We know that February has for ages, and not only in the US, but in other country around the world, been a month of romance. This romantic holiday in history contains both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. It is said that Catholic Churches are some of the only churches that still recognize at least three different saints with the names of Valentine or Valentinus, all said to be martyred. (history.com)

The most popular story (or "legend") say that Valentine was a priest, serving during the third century. Rome's Emperor Claudius II decided that single men became better soldiers than those with families and wives. Claudius II outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, knowing the wrongness of this immoral act, went against the Emperor's orders and continued to perform the marriage ceremonies  in private. Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that Valentine be put to death, making him a martyr for love.

So you see Valentine's day is not just about your red Hallmark cards and kisses and hugs. It has a story behind it.
