So long HIPPA.

Oh, what another beautiful day in politics that I can very proudly get to say I told you so.

Why don’t we start at the beginning?  HIPPA- everyone upon visiting a physician office signs an agreement listing the standard of privacy and accountability which that medical offices will up hold for their patients. Along with a sheet that the patient is allowed to put down a contact other than themselves that is available to get there medical information such as a parents or a spouse.

As a Patient your Personal Health Information is supposed to be protected under HIPPA but a new or not so new ruling (just another part of Obamacare) from the Department of Health and Human Services allows agencies to trading information to verify that Obamacare application are getting the minimum amount of health coverage. Personal health information is all of a patient’s individual health history, lab results, test, and medical concerns.

Our administration has said that the new rules will have the proper privacy laws. Ha, what a relief. I'm sure America will find that promising considering all the scandals we have seen in the past month, with the phone scandal and the New York gun law.

Obamacare has already tried to get in between the relationship with a patient and the physician, with this new law, it makes us- the health care workers seem like the bad guys, With health care providers struggling with insurance as what patients medical  needs really are.

I understand our current health system needs health reform, but I also believe in the sanctity of life, and there are many parts of Obamacare that contradict the beliefs that life no matter what age or what is medical needed despite that cost, that life is precious.

Welfare Reform Clinton and Obama

In 1996 congressional republicans and president Bill Clinton altered welfare for the better. The largest cash welfare program, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) was altered by having work requirements added to the program, changing the program name Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). In the next five years of this reform, welfare decreased by 50 percent and child poverty dropped.  Clinton proudly declared that the reform would “end welfare as we know it”.  Millions of families have been able to move off of TANF because they were given the opportunity to work and support themselves with the programs work requirements and work training offered.

This past July 2012, Americans watched as Obama’s administration came out with a change to the successful welfare reform law of 1996. The Obama’s administration allows the states to waive the TANF work requirements, taking out the very element that made this reform so successful. In the establishing of the welfare reform, congress intended the work requirements to be mandatory, meaning non-waivable.  The Obama administration is illegally claiming authority to waive the TANF requirements by using section 1115 waiver under one of the social security acts, but I bet you didn't know that in order to use the section 1115 waiver, that what you want to be able to waiver must be listed in section 1115. As to our knowledge TANF is not listen in section 1115, making it illegal.

AFDC, was a one way handout. Government mailed checks to welfare dependents with no expectation of receiving anything back.  Under TANF, taxpayers continued to provide aid, but the dependents were required by law to engage in work, or efforts to put themselves into the work force, by obtaining their GED, seeking vocational training, or by attending college.

With Obama’s administration pulling the work requirements out of the TANF, it leads to more government dependency. What expectation do we have for those on welfare with no work requirements, but the expectation that they will be back for more government aid through means of government checks and food stamps.

A few days later in July 2012, Representatives Jim Jordan, David Camp, and John Kline introduced H.R 6140, The Preserving Work Requirements for Welfare Program Acts. This legislation would prohibit Obama’s administration, from removing the work requirements that made the 1996 welfare reform so successful.

As Americans we need to be active in this movement, every tax payer is paying into government aid. Let us better help out fellow Americans by expecting welfare dependents to give back. In return it helps encouraging economic growth as they begin to provide and get themselves off of the welfare system. Government aid is to help them get back on their feet and it is not intended for people to live off of for a long period of time.

Getting my feet wet.

Had a very pleasant Saturday, as I spent the afternoon meeting with a small group of Republicans and shaking the hand of Jim Renacci while at his headquarter in the heart of Wadsworth. I was very excited as he meet with us and other local people from the Medina and the Wadsworth area. This was a great opportunity for me to get my feet wet with local and state politics. It was a great encouragement as I meet a few people who are also on fire for this up-coming 2012 elections.

Finished my Saturday with dinner at BRAVO! and a little Shopping at Banana Republic with Mom and Andrea... Pure Bliss!

Politics and Work

One of my favorite things about my job is when I get to talk to my patients about politics.

Just like everywhere in America, I have the patients that are Liberal,  I feel that there is no hope for them, and It makes me wonder who was in charge of brain washing them. I have some patients who still believe in their social security- not sure where they think that money is coming from! I have a few you actually like President Obama, and will probably vote for him again. Some patients believe the war is over know that President Obama is pulling troops out an Iraq - Which absolutely blows my mind, because I believe that the war we should be worried about hasn't even started yet, or that is has started but the worst is yet to come. Yet I have  some who think like me, and if times allows they will sit in therapy and discuss it. I love it. I try and soak up as much of it in as I can. A few looked at me and thought I knew nothing, but once I was able to prove myself and hold my own, it was like I got accepted into a little community of political goodness.
Granted there are still a few who try to nail me with with hard questions trying to find a flaw, but those are usually sexiest guys who does not believe in women talking of such things or they think I'm stupid. I'm not always sure which of the two it is.

One of my favorite patients (not that I have favorites-ya right) is a strong believer in Christ along with his wife, they both serve and teach at Ashland University. He is always bringing me in some sort of political readings that he thinks I might like or learn from. He fills me in on his currents thoughts on Senate, legilslation, foreign policy, Hebeas Corpus, up coming presidential elections, Obama & other political current events along with his thoughts from the class he is taking through Hillsdale college. He is a wise man, that I considered blessed to get to work with.

Another one that brighten my day is a lovely lady who lives in town. Although she is in her 70s, she is a pistol. She might say she does not know much about politics, but it does not take much for us to get her at the edge of her seat when talking about current events and hearing everybody's thought on the recent debates.  If I have half the spunk she does at her age, I will be eternally thankful!

Than you have the couple who was delighted when they found out I was a Rush baby, although I enjoy listening to Rush I'm not sure I am as die hard as they are. Sometimes I think people need to think for themselves!

Than we have the ones that say they would vote for Donald Trump.  Don't get me wrong Trump does know what he is doing with his money, but really? If Donald runs, he will run as a independent, leaving the republican party with less votes, more than likely giving Obama an even bigger foot hold into the presidential seat for a second term. Gahh! I don't understand why they don't get it.

And those Ron Paul fans, There will always be those who will vote for him. Why I'm not sure, I realize I'm not  always right, but I don't agree with Ron Paul  (or Glen Beck) when He says We need to bring the troops home as soon as possible. I think that by pulling out, it is sending a nonverbal statement. That is not what our Country security needs at this point of the game, (yes, its a game to most people) and can someone please tell me what jobs are going to be available when they all come home?  You bring troops home that have post traumatic stress disorder and you don't supply jobs for them. (oh wait a minute, they couldn't supply jobs if they wanted to, because our economy sucks!) To me that does not seem like the greatest welcome home present.

Oh and while I'm at it, unemployment, I think that if your unemployed even if you aren't looking for a job, you should still be counted in the percentage. Come On! Stop lying to thousands of Americans!

And so this is one of my favorite parts about my job, My patients and their political views.
